The Outreach Committee's focus is on ministering to the needs of others. We give monetary support to many helping agencies and encourage "hands on" volunteer work as well. We meet four times a year, in September, November, February, and April. This committee is open to anyone who will commit to being actively involved in our work.

Community HealthCare Center: Location: 310 Eisenhower Drive
The mission of the Community Health Care Center is to "increase access to primary health care for the medically underserved and uninsured in a compassionate, dignified and appropriate manner." The center is operated by a combination of paid staff and volunteers and serves the working uninsured.
Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, Location: Chatham County Jail
This program was first begun in Virginia in 1961 as a non-profit organization formed for the purposes of organizing a visitation program for the benefit of inmates, witnessing to inmates and their families, aiding in a physical and spiritual rehabilitation of men and women upon their release, and provision of educational programs within the institutions to encourage continuance of formal education among the inmates.
Hospice Savannah, Location: 1352 Eisenhower Drive
Hospice Savannah provides health care, physical, psychosocial and spiritual support for terminally ill persons and their families.
Interfaith Hospitality Network, Location: 213 W. 32nd St.
IHN is a network of local congregations that provides emergency shelter and food for homeless families with children. Volunteers cook meals and spend the night with families at their church. During the day, the families stay at the Day Center, where there are shower and laundry facilities. The Day Center also houses the offices of the IHN Director and staff, who help the families find employment and permanent housing.
Kairos Prison Ministry, Location: Georgia Prison System
Kairos means "God's special time" and the Kairos motto is "listen, listen, love, love." This program gives inmates a foundation of a lifetime relationship with Jesus Christ by telling his story and sharing his love and mercy. Wherever we touch the hearts and spirits of the lost and broken we touch the heart of our Lord.
MedBank
This organization's mission is to provide to the medically needy and chronically ill of the community access to prescription medications. Volunteers work on databases and filling out applications, reviewing them and then forwarding them to doctors and drug companies.
SAFE Shelter
SAFE Shelter is a private, non-profit organization that provides services to victims of domestic violence. The mission is to reduce the level of domestic violence in the Coastal Empire and the shelter strives to accomplish this by providing temporary shelter to women and children in immediate danger. Support services are offered such as preventive education, crisis counseling, referrals, support groups, legal advocacy, children's programs and parenting and life management classes.
The Savannah Health Mission, Georgia Ear Institute, Memorial Med Center
The Savannah Health Mission is a free healthcare clinic staffed by volunteer physicians and nurses. It is a non-profit organization established to serve underprivileged persons in Savannah who cannot afford private healthcare and are uninsured or under-insured.
Organizations Funded that do not Offer Volunteer Opportunities
Americares is a non-profit organization that provides emergency medical supplies to areas of the world struck by disasters. It is well regarded for the speed with which it responds to disasters, and for the efficiency of its operation.
Epiphany of Georgia is a ministry based on the Kairos prison ministry model, but targeted for teen offenders, and using youth volunteers together with clergy. (Leslie has been active with Epiphany of Georgia, and may be able to provide more detailed information.)

General Theological Seminary
St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Day Care Center is run by St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, and offers affordable day care to primarily African American working families in the neighborhood.
University of the South at Sewanee

Young Life is a Christian organization that unites young people in a fun-filled, God-filled atmosphere. They come together at least once a month for an evening of fun, worship and Christian leadership.
