How to Play Baccarat Online
Baccarat is one of the casino games that oozes sophistication, evoking images of men in tuxedos and women in posh evening gowns laying down their chips as the dealer distributes cards. However, don’t let its mystique intimidate you – it’s a game that can be learned by any level of player. In fact, this exciting card game is just as easy to play online as it is in person.
A game of baccarat starts when players place their bets on the Banker, the Player or a Tie. Once all bets have been placed, the dealer will then deal two cards to each hand and the winning hand is the one that is closest to nine points. In the case of a tie, all bets are returned and no money is won or lost.
The dealer will then reveal the first card in the Player box, followed by the second card in the Banker box. If the total of either hand is 8 or 9 on the first card, this is known as a natural and no further cards are drawn. If the total is 7 on the first card, then the Banker will stand, but if the total is 6 or less on the first card, the banker must draw a third card.
After the second card is dealt in the banker and player hands, a scorecard will be displayed on the table. The Player and Banker hands will then be compared to determine which hand is the winner. The Player hand will win if it is closer to nine than the Banker’s hand. The Banker will win if its hand is closer to nine than the Player’s hand. In the case of a tie, the bets on the Banker and Player hands are returned, and no one wins or loses.
Once the Banker and Player hands are determined, the Super Six and Pair Bets will be paid out. The payout on the Super Six bet is 12x the original bet amount and the payout on the Pair Bet is 11x the bet amount. The Banker and Player Pair Bets are based on whether the initial two cards dealt to each hand form a pair.
A ‘Pair’ is when the initial two cards are a consecutive number, such as 2 and 4, or 8 and 9. The payout on this bet is 11x the original bet amount.
Baccarat has five different types of bets that can be made – Player Bet, Banker Bet, Pair Bet, Super Six Bet and the Tie Bet. In the game of baccarat, Aces are worth one point, 10s and picture or face cards count as zero, and all other cards take their numbered value.
Baccarat is a popular game with players and bankers worldwide. In Macau, which dethroned Las Vegas as the world’s largest gaming hub in 2006, baccarat makes up about 88 percent of casinos’ winnings. In the United States, it is played in high-stakes areas of many European and Nevada casinos.
